Lance
Cornell is the varsity Head Coach and for THS. He is a 1985 graduate of Denair High School. He received a
bachelor's degree from California State University, Stanislaus in
1990 in Social Science. He currently holds credentials in Social
Science, Learning Handicapped, and has a Resource Specialist Certificate.
Lance coached football at Denair High School from 1985 until 1995.
In that decade, he was part of a staff that took a program with one
of California's longest losing streaks to 5 consecutive conference
championships.
In 1996 he became an assistant freshman coach at Turlock High School,
which went on to an undefeated league title under head coach Frank
Cusenza. In 1998 Lance was promoted to head JV coach and the team
was a combined 17-2-1 in his two years, which included an undefeated
league title in 1998. Lance joined the varsity staff in 2000 as an assistant and was named head coach in 2006. Lance is also an assistant with the Bulldog varsity baseball
team.
Lance and his wife Anne, who coaches water polo and swimming at
Pitman High
School, have two children Cody and Caitlin.
