Rusty Silva coaches the linebackers for the THS junior varsity team. He is a 1967 graduate of Oakdale High School and a 1971 graduate of Humboldt State University. Rusty played football at the collegiate level for Modesto Junior College and Humboldt State. Rusty has been teaching Physical Education at Turlock High since 1986. Prior to that he taught at Riverbank High School.

During his time at Riverbank High, Rusty served as an assistant varsity football coach until his final two years when he took over as their head coach. During his time at RHS, Rusty helped guide the Bruins to the 1978 TVL championship. In addition to his football duties, Rusty served as head wrestling coach. Rusty has been a member of the football staff since arriving at THS in 1986. He was the varsity inside linebacker coach for the Dogs when they won the 1995 CCC championship. In 2001, 2003, 2004, and 2006, Rusty helped guide the sophomore team to undefeated CCC titles.
